Rio Irigoyen

This wonderful place located in the most remote of the island of Tierra del Fuego has always been a very interesting destination for fishermen from all over the world. Since the mid-1990s, a local fisherman tried to operate the place as a fly-fishing destination for foreigners and locals without economic success, although with great success putting the river in the minds of many of the most demanding fishermen.

For several years, Diego Castillo was able to partially continue operating the place in combination with other destinations on the island.

In the middle of 2006, a very important company in the area began cleaning up the area with the aim of reopening this magical place. After five years, 2011 was the last season that they were present in the area trying to keep the sport fishing operation open that finally ended up closing the following year.

According to local legends, all kinds of activities took place for several years in the absence of a manager in charge or responsible for the place.

Finally, at the end of 2016 Diego Castillo, our CEO, returns to the place hoping to find some of the famous seatrout so characteristic of the mythical Irigoyen River. With little hope due to the number of gillnet poles placed along the coast, a new adventure began, reopening an environmentally and economically sustainable fishing lodge.

Hundreds of hours of work, incalculable efforts and well-defined business strategies eventually paid off. Currently, not only has the seatrout population in the area recovered, we have also reached records in quantity and quality during the 2022 season. The objective has been more than fulfilled, in only six seasons and with a Pandemic in the middle we have managed to develop a product very attractive to fishermen around the world, generating a constant and growing demand that can only have one end, success.

In May 2022, Diego Castillo ends his relationship with the formal operator of the place.
